Obituary for Thomas Dalton Bambury

Thomas Dalton Bambury, 49, of Rotterdam, passed away suddenly on December 9, 2018. He was born on June 5, 1969, son of the late V. Dalton (Duff) Bambury and is survived by his mother, Jean F. (Connelly) Bambury of Rotterdam.

Thomas obtained his Associate’s degree in both Chemical Dependency Counseling and Human Services from SUNY Schenectady County Community College, where he received the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and served on the Board of Trustees. He was devoted to helping people in his role as a counselor at Mohawk Opportunities in Schenectady. Previously, he worked at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. He was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland.

Thomas was very involved as an actor, singer and director in many local community theater groups where he gave many newcomers a chance to shine on the stage. He found great joy in theater, movies, and entertainment, and brightened the day of his hundreds of Facebook friends with his daily morning inspirational posts, promoting kindness. Thomas was an active supporter of the LGBTQ community.

He is also survived by his sisters, Meg (Michael) Lisi of Rotterdam and Beverly (Robert) Moquin of Marlborough, CT. Thomas is also survived by five nieces who were his pride and joy: Kerri (Kris) Ferrari of Oxnard, CA, Amy Tedesco (Sean Simmons) of Rotterdam, Kelly Moquin (Justin McLees) of Sacramento, CA, Shannon Moquin of Marlborough, CT and Megan Moquin of Marlborough, CT. He is also survived by great-nieces, Adelynn Rose and Lyla Jean, of Oxnard, CA, his aunts, Mary
Hannon of Rexford and Janet Burke of Oceanside, CA, his uncle, Joseph Connelly III of Salem, SC and many cousins on the east and west coasts. He was the proud godfather of Harmony. Thomas was the grandson of the late Arthur and Helen Bambury and Joseph and Sarah Connelly.

Thomas touched those he met with his quick wit and will be remembered for his spirit of kindness, tolerance and peace.

A gathering to celebrate Thomas's life will be held on Thursday evening December 13th from 4 to 7 pm at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY, followed on Friday morning at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated at 10 am Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
