Obituary for Arthur G. Feuz

Arthur G. Feuz
Arthur G. Feuz, 94, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully on Saturday November 18, 2017 at Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Bertha (Abbuhl) Feuz.

Arthur grew up in the country and walked each day to a one room schoolhouse throughout his elementary education. He graduated from Draper HS in 1941 with both a High School and Business diploma.

Arthur was a very good mechanic and craftsman. He built his own home and often rebuilt automobile engines and farm machinery. He was a skilled machinist and was highly respected for his abilities throughout his 35-year long career at the General Electric Company in Schenectady. He was always a hard worker, taking on long hours at GE while also helping on the family farm which was hard work but work he enjoyed.

He always had a large garden and many fruit trees. Over the years he grew apple, peach, plum, pear, nectarine and cherry fruit that he and his wife Mary canned or froze along with the other garden vegetables to last throughout the year. In his 90's he still canned over 80 quarts of tomato juice each season from his garden.

Arthur loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed fishing at his camp at Skaneateles Lake in the summer and off the pier at his winter home in Barefoot Bay, Fl. He shot his last 10-point deer at age 90.

Arthur and Mary loved to cook and always hosted fabulous holiday dinners for their family.

He was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Rotterdam. Arthur was also a Mason and a member of the Shriners. Arthur was a Mason for 62 years and an Oriental Shriner. He was a 3rd degree Master Mason raised at the Schenectady Lodge on 1/25/1955.

Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife Mary J. (Colombe) Feuz, whom he married February 10th 1946. One daughter Gale Schermerhorn, one brother Howard Feuz and two sisters Doris Harper and Helen Monty.

Arthur is survived by his four loving children Gary A. Feuz (Annette) of Rotterdam, Judith Allen (Shelby) of Scotia, Dianne Earls (Dennis) of Schenectady and Joan Miller (Kenneth) of Esperance. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
