Obituary for Bernard Baker

Bernard Baker
Bernard “Bernie” Baker, 66, of Rotterdam passed away at home on Friday September 8, 2017. Bernard was born on June 10, 1951 in Schenectady.

Bernie served his country in the Army in Vietnam. Later Bernie was employed as a machinist for the Watervliet Arsenal until his retirement.

Bernie was handy with repairing and making items. He enjoyed fishing and garage sales. Bernie enjoyed his home where he spent time in his vegetable garden and giving his produce away to friends and neighbors.

Many days were spent with his buddy Jim at the “Office” Barbershop with coffee in hand. Bernie was a welcome visitor to Jim’s house in Florida where he spent time the past few winters. Bernie also spent time with his friends at the United Buffet.

Bernie was a kind individual who was there for you as a friend and a neighbor. He will be missed.

Bernie leaves behind close friends and neighborhood friends and his three furry friends-Bucko, Dustina and Lucky. They kept him company.

Funeral Services for Bernie will be Monday 2PM at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. A calling hour will be 1-2PM prior to the service.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady.
