The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Melva Curtis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Carol Nowell
Condolence: Melvie,
You were not only my mother, but also a friend. You were an excellent example for us: honest, hard-working, lovable and humorous. You didn't sugar coat things, but did your best to teach us life's lessons.

I have many fond memories growing up on Helderberg Ave. with Grandma and Grandpa Jordon downstairs. I can picture you swimming at Sacandaga, watching Chiller late at night, eating out at Lum's or cooking our favorites: barbecued spareribs, spaghetti and meatballs or fish chowder. In later years, I see you walking in your neighborhood or enjoying the turtles in Florida.

You had a long, long battle with a terrible disease. It was difficult watching you lose your essence a piece at a time.

Now, you are at rest, your husband at your side, watering the flowers in heaven. All your family and loved ones are with you. May God bless you.
I love you,

Condolence: My goodness, she was pretty . . . Just like her daughters. According to your tribute, she was a beautiful person throughout. I wish we could have known her. We are so sorry for your loss. You know of course, that her pain is now gone and for that we are grateful.
Love and prayers,
Anita and Mark

Condolence From: Sue Arehart
Condolence: Mom,
My heart is broken. I knew this day would come, I know you suffered greatly with this terrible disease. Yet nothing could prepare me for the hole I have in my heart right now.
You were one of the strongest , most determined people I will ever know. You worked so hard all of your life to give us the things you never had, and the education that was not available to you. You stood up for those who needed a voice, and encouraged us to do the same. Your work ethic was amazing, and you went through so many difficult times with so much grace, class and dignity.
You were a rock, always there for all of us, and I hope you know how much it meant to me.
I remember so many life lessons about giving back to those less fortunate, respecting nature, animals, and people..
I miss you so much already. I know you have found dad, and are surrounded by every pet we ever owned, you know, the ones that followed one of us home from school..
I take comfort that you are able to walk, to see, and to hear once more..but most of all, I hope you have all of your precious memories back..
Thankyou mom, for everything..Rest in Peace. Sue Arehart.
